Universal Studios Singapore

Hihi!!! Been missing in action quite abit .. well.. April was a hectic month with many weekends burnt for classes. Coming May is also another super hectic month cause revisions will be over weekends, and then a short family trip, and I still need to revise by myself for exams in June!

Working life is not too bad. Still trying to get used to going home punctually every single day, and not having to OT. It's really alot more manageable now, so hopefully this goes on! :)

So, before I neglect the boy, we decided to go for a USS fun day last weekend! I got free tickets because I renewed my contract with Singtel fibre plan so there's free RWS invites.
This free tickets also entitles free priority queues!

We got there by 10am when it just opened, and the first thing we did was to go queue for transformers!
Haha... It's been a long time since I went to USS, and I haven't got a chance to try the Transformer.
Luckily I sat the Battlestar Roller Coaster before like a number of times cause it's now closed indefinitely.

It's Easter period so many decorations were about eggs!

The transformer ride was good, but not as great as I expected. I guess many were fascinated by the fact that it feels like 4D but in actually fact, you are sitted and being rotated around, and you can still feel the effect.
Although it's good, I prefer the Mummy ride over this. I think the Mummy ride was the best among all (minus the battlestar). Damn shiok.
W chionged to try the transformer and the Mummy without the priority tickets so that we could get a second ride later in the afternoon using them. :)

We then took our time to stroll around the area while waiting for another top show to start which was the waterworld.
My favourite - Fairy Land!!! Super love the castle!!! Although I think Disneyland in Hong Kong is still the best so far. haha...

Shrek Easter Egg!!! There are 7 different painted eggs in USS... and the boy insisted on finding all of them.... -.-"""

Bought this USS water bottle which is like so ex... $15... There were even more expensive ones like the Minion and Bumblebee one... retailing at $25. Gosh...

Took a picture with Transformer figurine - Cool!!!

Transformer Egg....

Sesame Street Egg!!!! Cute!!!!

Ultimate tourist picture. lol..

Madagascar World egg.

Us looking half shag after spending the afternoon taking another round of transformer and mummy rides, and also made use of the priority tickets to take the other rides that we could get in without queueing like the Shrek 4D adventure and Rockstar show.
Thereafter, we settled ourselves along the path to watch for the Parade to start.

Elmo egg.

The ugliest egg. Dinosaur egg...

FYI, it's a real bumble bee person inside. This is not a mockup.
The person is damn skinny to fit inside.

And the ending of our USS fun day!
Me looking super touristy. haha...

Found this egg at Fairy Land!

The evening view of the castle.. lovely... Suddenly I miss Disneyland.. haha..

We shopped around but ended buying nothing.
I think overall, I prefer Disneyland cause it's much more cuter.. dream like stuff...
Although the rides are not as good as USS, but I took more pictures in Disneyland and really, the things are just so cute!!!
I could spend like hundreds over dollars at their specialty shops!

Anyway, it's probably not right to compare like that since both are from different company.
Still, I enjoyed my time in USS, since it's really a long time since I last played thrilling rides. :)

Midweek cheer

Quick updates!

Well... ever since I started left Abbott, meeting the boy is slightly difficult now since we don't see each other daily anymore. Last time, we dont plan in advance for dates (unless special events) and randomly go for dinners after work.
But now, we have to plan in advance and not only that, deciding go where!
Since im at the extreme east, going to town takes more time!!!

With my weekend burnt for classes last week, we met up yesterday! This week, we went to p.s cafe at orchard!

The truffle portobello mushroom soup! Very nice!!!! Thick grinded mushroom = delicious!

The famous truffle fries! Its damn HUGE!!! He picture may be deceiving but imagine the plate is about 3 packs of large macdonalds fries!!!!
Dont order unless you have more people for sharing, or if u are confident that you can finish... haha
But its nice!! I like!!!

Bangers and mash main course. So so only. The mash potato has peas and cauliflower. I think can try others.

My farewell @ Abbott

Had my farewell dinner with the finance colleagues at Carousel! Finally man. Been wanting to try this but never had a chance to. Heard reviews that it's better than The Line... And true enough, IT IS better than The Line. But I would say Marina Mandarin is better.

The deserts line looks very colourful and tasty. but it was bad. Can just miss all this. Not worth your tummy space.

The fresh seafood!!! Great!!!!!! Overall, their seafood, and Jap counters are good, and they have a wide variety of cooked food and carved meats. Do try them out!!!

Thanks for the treat!!!

Thereafter, a few of us went for a drink together at Gusto, opposite Wheelock.
Chit chat before ending the night at 1am. Luckily, all of us made it in time for next day's work.. haha..
A special cider that hardly seen around. Sweet and refreshing taste!!!
I'm loving ciders!

My last day of work... took photos with a few of my good friends.

Hui Min, although we no longer have to work closely in work, and we may not be related, but we are still very close, talk personal stuff cause of this special connection. :)
I don't know what is it exactly, but we just.. click.
Love her for being straight and dare to speak up.

Hui Min - Group Product Manager (Medical)

Yen Chin, joined only a year, but has been supporting us continously. She's the kan jiong type lah. and the go by the books one. Typical accountant. haha.. :)

Yen Chin, my manager

My mentor, my supporter, from Day 1 I stepped into Abbott. She groomed me to where I am today, and definitely she's one of the smartest person around. She taught me all I knew, and gave me opportunities to learn and grow.

It was really really hard on my last day. I tried not to tear in front of her when she hugged me cause I didn't want to leave with a bad memory.
But the moment I walked out of the door, tears flowed.
I can't thank her enough for always allowing me to be her left hand and supporting her even though I was fresh.
Gaining so much knowledge within 4 years + of finance experience is extremely privilege. To earn this level of status is also because of her. I'll probably never forget her for the rest of my life.

Another precious person is also Helen, standing to my right side. She is my Godma. She's the one who I always share my ups and downs with her. She gives me guidance and shares her own experience in life. She's like a mum to me. Really really miss her. She's the one I'm most worried about actually... .... haiz.

Anyway, my last day with Abbott Laboratories (Singapore) Pte Ltd ended on 10th April 2014.
Really grateful to have spent these days, fire fighting and being part of all major projects with such a great team.

Happening Youngsters @ Treetop Executive

The weekend before my last week, the finance youngsters went on a weekend staycation!
It was a Treetops Executive located at Orange Grove Road (opposite Shangrila). Thanks to chue chue, we managed to get a premium 2 bedroom for this event.

The entrance, where you see swimming pool. Without further ado, we quickly checked into our room! It was spacious!!!  The master bedroom can sleep 3 person!

Spacious living room

Kitchen with fully equiped hardwares!!!

Another room with twin bedding.

We started BBQ-ing early since we had spare time and the focus was night games. So cam whore abit while the guys start fire.

Food provided by my dad's workspace, BBQ wholesale.

And the night fun begins! We started with Twister as warm up... and the 2 guys demo-ed.

We went in rounds, and this picture is like punishment! 3 of us not wanting to step over each other's territory. haha.. But quite tiring leh. cause my tahan all the sorts of position...

Brendan, who used his weight and pushed us all out. lol.

The next game was the marble game. There's this empty container floating on top of a basin of water. Each can take turns to drop the marble. When the container sinks, you lose. Not very fun lah. The most exciting is the next one. hehe..

The egg game!!! Adapted from Running Man!!!
In case you haven watched Running Man = in a basket of eggs, there are a couple of eggs that are raw. So if you get raw ones, you're out.
Our improvised game includes choosing your own egg, but someone else from another team will have to smash you. It was SOOO FUN. But gross... ahahaha

Can you see the yolk flying?!!!!

Very wen rou...

The ultimate. Both smashed at the same time cause 1 of it is raw.

It's really great bonding time playing such games. :)

The happenign youngsters!!!!

Esther and Sylvia left, so the rest of us started playing drinking games.. and Brendan was the first to be down. Opps. and kanna drawn... haha...

The next morning, we finished up the leftovers from BBQ, and cooked up some breakfast for ourselves!! Don't look fantastic, but the mushroom was fab!!! By chef brendan! :)

It was a very fun weekend, and I had a great bonding session with all of them.
Defintely miss all of them. Great team!
