Goodwood Park High Tea Buffet

Last week, I took an urgent leave to settle some stuff, then had some free time during the afternoon.
Decided to make act like tai tai and go for high tea!
Popped by Goodwood park for their high tea buffet at L'espresso. It's a buffet line so it is all replenishable. However, for drinks, it is only 2 drinks.

They do have quite a wide spread - pastries, baked items, fried items, bread, scones.

I love their pastries with those little seafood stuff on top.
My favourite is actually the one in the centre, salmon!

This is some beef stuff that is very good!!!

Shepard's pie, lasagne, pipraka chicken, crab something.
The pipraka chicken is damn good that I went and get 2nd round.

So-so tuna croissant. I think I like Delifrance better.

The desserts! There are a lot of other items but I only took these lah.
And everything on this plate is damn good. Got standard chocolate!

The English tea buffet starts from 2-5.30pm on Mon-Thursday.
$45 per person. :)

Had a good 2 hrs catching up with a friend and enjoying my rest of the day off.
Damn shiok until I felt like taking somemore leave.
It's been a long long time since I took leave just to relax in SG. Also keep my leave for overseas trip.
Maybe soon, I'll probably just do that ;)
Keeping my fingers crossed for something more exciting!

Wheeler's Yard

Because the boyfriend and I had been spending our dates on exercising and there's just too little time for dates left, this was our first official date in 2015. Like really just to two of us going on non-exercise, normal dating times.

So, GGH planned on this date. Told me to wear our 1st couple tee out together....
There's a reason why...
Cause he brought me to Wheeler's Yard. That explains why he wanted to wear the black couple tee. (btw, he also bought a white couple tee).
The black couple tee was a cycling graphic design.
And, Wheeler's Yard is a garage café with cycling stuff deco.
Totally forgot to take pictures of the surrounding and their default blue signboard. Guess I was too hungry.

My brunch was Smoked Salmon and scrambled eggs.
The salmon was okay, but the eggs is absolutely not fantastic. Food was meh.

We also shared mushroom soup and garlic bread. Soup was also a disappointment. Although it has chucks of mushroom, but the mushroom didn't taste fragrant.
GGH ordered the grilled chicken under the main course and it was passable.
I probably wouldn't go back here again cause the food really... isn't worth it.
The average cost of mains were around $18++...
Had much better food with that kind of price.

Went shopping for a travel backpack but couldn't settle for one. Really like the salomon red bag but it cost like 280 after 15% discount. Cannot bring myself to buy such an expensive bag.
Ended up watching the thai movie in the evening which was really funny. Great show!

Sin Lee Foods

Sin Lee Food
Blk 4 Jalan Bukit Ho Swee

My first time venturing out to Tiong Bahru area to eat brunch.
Went with Irene for her birthday treat and she suggested this new place.

This place is quite easily found. Around 5 min walk from Tiong Bahru Mrt, exit towards the taxi stand, turn right to a T-junction, then turn left. Then it's Jalan Bukit Ho Swee. Turn right and just keep walking until you see SEAB, Singapore Exam & Assessment Board. Slightly further up, you will see the carpark gantry and a stairway right beside it. Walk up the stairway, the shop is on your right.

The menu is quite limited, one page only. haha... but there's a lot of description of what each food is.
You will have to order at the counter, but they will serve the food to you.

One of the decorative wall - using old Chinese calendars. Looks... erm. to me.

We ordered the unusual and unique dishes that hardly can be found elsewhere.
Salted Egg Sweet Potato Fries.
Savoury fries. The taste is quite nice and unique on its own. I dunno where else can find lah.
But it's good for sharing only because it's quite jelat if you have it by yourself.

Another savoury unique dish - Sin Lee's Fried Chicken & Waffles
So weird combi right?!
But the chicken was very delicious!!!! So tender and juicy!
The waffles was so-so only though.

We ordered mini doughnuts for desserts, but meh... very normal.
It's freshly made to order, but I felt they used cooked oil to deep fry, cause it didn't look golden and didn't smell fragrant.
But the ice cream was fantastic!!! :p

Probably not going back anymore though. Nothing for me to crave.

Do head over while it's new! cause we went ard 11plus, there wasn't much crowd, and had a good time chatting away leisurely! :)

Night Fest x Ippudo Tao

Yes, i'm missing for a while. But forgive this girl who fell sick for almost a week can?
Was down with rashes, then after that came fever flu sore throat. All in one.
Super sian. Took medicine and stay all day long at home.
Hardly you will catch me sleeping in the noon, but this time, I eat and sleep non-stop.

Thankfully, I recovered most of it by weekend, although I felt tired earlier than before.
Didn't wanna spoil my weekends with the boy, hence just tahan.

Of course, we went night festival and this year, we even went for the 2 weekends!
I would say we covered most of it cause both weekends we stay there till 2am!!!

I think my favourite was the show Fat kids are harder to kidnap. It was hilarious!
Anyway, guess pictures are better than descriptions cause it's arts!

The Philatelic Museum. So cool, my first time there!!!
Btw, it's free for Singapore Citizen and PR, so do go there and visit if you have time cause we did spend quite some time there actually and it's superheroes theme now!!!

On the 2nd floor, you actually get to see a few little corners of the history of Singapore. And you will be amazed by what you didn't learn in history! At least for those in my generation... haha...

Toured around Clarke Quay since we have spare time, and took a tourist pic!!! :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday, I went out with my 2 colleagues to Ippudo Tao at MS road!!!
My first time, and the ramen was fantastic! I really drank up the room and ate the noodles all of it!
Love it!!! Will definitely come back again!

Note to self: There's Ippudo at Mandarin Gallery, but without the "Tao" word. :)

Guess which is mine? ;)

The pork bun that super craved by chloe.
Not a fan of this though.

We then headed to Laurent Bernard for desserts, and it was heavenly!!!
The dark chocolate was perfect!
Missed my dark chocolate for soooo long...

The praline that came with my cup of mocha even had coconut taste in it!
I think it's special lah. Never taste before mah.

Been eating a lot this week ... shall control!!!!

Churros Orchard Central

The greedy me who already felt slightly sick on Sunday still insisted on going to town to try churros cause I was craving for it a long time!
Just nice, (or purposely), we had a movie to catch in town.

Walked over to Orchard Central to try the Spanish Doughnuts.
181 Orchard Road,
#05-51/52 Orchard Central,
Singapore 238896

The first bite was sirening craving satisfied...
We both kept reaching to the pack and eat! :p
We bought the Choco Churritos, which is the normal churros with 3 sauce dips - White, Milk, and Dark chocolate.

I like mine with dark (as always), and also just eating the plain churros was great already.
GGH likes the white chocolate.
It differs slightly from the USS churros (my next best option), where USS churros was sugary coated,
but this Spanish doughnut was coated with powdery sugar.

They do sell other premium coated churros which looks equally nice! Shall try it next time when I recover!

Nespresso x Fortissio Lungo Grand Cru

In case you didn't know, Nespresso is under Nestle group. So, this explains me cutting down on kopi during lunch and seeing me seating around the Nespresso lounge for a teabreak and trying out different types of capsules. hehe...

So, on Tuesday, Nespresso has generously organised a breakfast to introduce their new addition of Lungo - Fortisso Lungo.

According to their brochure, it is created from a sophisticated blend of coffee beans from Central-South America combined with the previous full Arabica Monsoon Malabar from India.
These West Indian coffee beans are exposed to monsoon winds after harvest to recreate the conditions of the long sea journeys to Europe in the age of sailing ships, thus revealing a distinguished aromatic profile.

After said that, I'm not an expert in coffee, though I am starting to appreciate them.

A permanent range of coffee capsules at the lounge. The darker the colour of the capsule, the higher intensity it is.

Trying out the new lungo. Isn't the machine gorgeous?! Love the red hot little Maestria!!
The intensity of the new Fortissio Lungo is 8. So it kinda taste strong, bitter but robust flavour.
I added mine with a dash of milk so that it isn't that strong and it came up not bad! No sugar added.

The huge spread of breakfast. Taste great!

JB day trippin

After so long, we finally pinned a date for our JB day trip!
Can't remember when was the last time BANANAS actually went out man... this year lagi worse.. they are going to Bali in December!!! There goes our annual Christmas affair~~...

Anyways... coming back to the topic.

Our lunch in JB is the standard usual Bak Kut Teh. But this time round, I brought them to Soon Soon Heng which is just across KSL. We used to go the one at Taman Sentosa. I just recalled this place was recommended by 4F peeps.

Luckily we reached slight earlier and beat the crowd.

Oh! There's a bus from the interchange that goes to KSL by the way. We usually take taxi but this time we had Sylvia joining so taking bus is really quite convenient! I think next time can take bus better. haha... RM1.50 only!!!

Note: Most photos were taken by Karin. Lazy me didn't take photo.

This is the ultimate saver for such a hot day! Ai yu jelly drink!
Very refreshing and not very sour.

The no garlic smell and non peppery Malaysian style BKT! Their sesame chicken claypot is fantastic too!

After that, we walked to Holiday Plaza to check out massage places and also did our nails!
My first time doing nails there... and it's so cheap!!!!
Long time never do nails, so suddenly got craving to do!!! :)

Tried this nails lab and it's not bad!

It's at Holiday Plaza, 3rd Floor, Unit F7.
Tel: 07-331 4105

They got a huge TV playing movies too while you do your nails.

The virgin boys doing a SPA Pedicure!! hehehe...
Psycho-ed them to do. Never do before try lor... somemore it's good to once in a while scrub that dead cells at your ball of your foot!

And, my finished product! First, it's my first time choosing a baby pink-ish colour. Second, my very first time drawing such sweet stuff!
The staff asked me whether wanna draw anything, I said anything lah. I thought will have patterns only which usually the case when I do it in Singapore. Didn't expect... ribbons..... haha...
But quite nice lah. so... I shall be more demure these few weeks. To it my nails theme. haha...

Overall, I think it's quite affordable. But there are other little shops which are cheaper as well.
I think Holiday Plaza prices are definitely much cheaper than KSL or City Square.

I did a Spa Classic Mani & Pedicure with the drawings cost about RM130. Spa is a lot more expensive, so do one time can liao. Nothing much fantastic, except your legs look shiner and moisturized. Never try before? Try once. :)

Next up: KTV Session! Super cheap! medium room (6-8pax) cost RM98 for 3 hrs.
Had lots of fun singing and laughing!

Our Msian-but-don't-like-Msia friend drove us to this Pekin restaurant which serves great food!!!

This cod fish fried with some sauce is super nice!!! Usually cod fish is best with steam, but this place is famous for its fried cod fish. My favourite!!!

"Paper wrap chicken" - one of their must order dish too!

You either like this or you don't. The sauce has very strong wine taste. If you like to drink, maybe you will like this. haha... it taste abit too strong for me. But the lala was big!!!

We also ordered a Beancurd tofu which we all forgot to take. But it's surprisingly my 2nd favourite dish. hahaa.. taste quite special with a little spinach inside.

All in all, the bill came up to RM270 for 6 pax dinner.. super worth it!

Shall try and make this more often! Craving for more delicious food at cheap prices!!!
Oh, and durians are in the season right now! Fantastic excuse to go in eh?
hehehe... when's my next JB trip????!!!!

Been thinking about when I can go for a long trip ... but doubt I'll be travelling this year... trying my best to save up quickly to repay every next year and then can travel without thinking about debts.
And always feeling bad towards the boy cause cannot travel together, though he has been really supportive towards my debt free days...

Wish I could do a short trip somewhere this year ...
