Capella Singapore Staycation

Last weekend, I had a privilege to join Abbott IFO teambuilding event hosted at Capella Singapore.
GGH was the invited guest by the host (he is not part of Finance hence needs invitation), and every employee had a night stay at the luxury Capella. And thankfully, GGH invited me. hehhee.

Capella is unique in it's own ways - their buildings are curved and modern but with interaction of the colonial buildings too. Their theme (I presumed), should be modern but yet with lush greeneries for a relaxing stay.

Some of their rooms faces the South China Sea (Ocean view), is priced slightly higher than their premier rooms.

My favourite love with this hotel is the huge bathtub! Moreover, their bathtub has a great view of outside! Note: Each rooms have different layouts. But all are huge and luxurious!

Below was our room's bathtub.

A standalone make up section for Him + Her.

With a huge bed, it also has a long comfortable sofa that you can enjoy your readings facing the Sea.
Having our ocean view room, I watched sunset with the boy on the sofa and it was a wonderful moment. :)

They have 3 pools in all, so you need not worry about having too many in the pool. All of them are big enough.

What's so fantastic about this hotel is their services that comes with your stay:
1) A personal assistant to help you with everything and anything during your stay.
p/s: we requested ice for drinking, they gave a huge bucket for it! without asking!
2) FREE wifi all throughout the hotel!!!
3) In-Room refreshments like fruits basket and EVERYTHING in the mini-bar is FREE!!!!
4) Capella Library with free flow of drinks and pastries

Both days, we went to the Library because it was very relaxing, quiet and we could just spend our afternoon away sipping tea and chit chatting or even reading the variety of books. Excellent place to past time away.

My 1 night stay was totally relaxing and wonderful. We even went for a morning run at the beach.
The breakfast thereafter was fabulous too!
Wholesome and complete. :)

Sunset moments with you are precious. :)

Sin Lee Foods

Sin Lee Food
Blk 4 Jalan Bukit Ho Swee

My first time venturing out to Tiong Bahru area to eat brunch.
Went with Irene for her birthday treat and she suggested this new place.

This place is quite easily found. Around 5 min walk from Tiong Bahru Mrt, exit towards the taxi stand, turn right to a T-junction, then turn left. Then it's Jalan Bukit Ho Swee. Turn right and just keep walking until you see SEAB, Singapore Exam & Assessment Board. Slightly further up, you will see the carpark gantry and a stairway right beside it. Walk up the stairway, the shop is on your right.

The menu is quite limited, one page only. haha... but there's a lot of description of what each food is.
You will have to order at the counter, but they will serve the food to you.

One of the decorative wall - using old Chinese calendars. Looks... erm. to me.

We ordered the unusual and unique dishes that hardly can be found elsewhere.
Salted Egg Sweet Potato Fries.
Savoury fries. The taste is quite nice and unique on its own. I dunno where else can find lah.
But it's good for sharing only because it's quite jelat if you have it by yourself.

Another savoury unique dish - Sin Lee's Fried Chicken & Waffles
So weird combi right?!
But the chicken was very delicious!!!! So tender and juicy!
The waffles was so-so only though.

We ordered mini doughnuts for desserts, but meh... very normal.
It's freshly made to order, but I felt they used cooked oil to deep fry, cause it didn't look golden and didn't smell fragrant.
But the ice cream was fantastic!!! :p

Probably not going back anymore though. Nothing for me to crave.

Do head over while it's new! cause we went ard 11plus, there wasn't much crowd, and had a good time chatting away leisurely! :)

His Actual 31st - Fart Tartz & Clan Restaurant

Finally after so long, I managed to complete Bangkok posts and getting into his actual birthday. haha.. So many photos to pen down but just too difficult to find time. This month is busy!

So, we both didn't take leave and only went for a dinner.
And his surprise came early during his tea break.

And I was glad that I chose this cause it really does look pretty!

Him opening up his surprise. Thanks for ALL the photographers who kept snapping and spamming my whatsapp..

Sunflower Mud Tart by Fart Tartz Café!
All thanks to Barry, owner of Fart Tarz who delivered specially to him.
Super great service and nice café too! Their tarts are really good!

It's actually located at Expo Hall 1, 2nd floor. Opposite Coffee Bean.
With just the pot of tart, it does look like a flower pot. haha.. I was initially kinda worried that he thinks it is a flower pot and then leave it aside and not eat. So I made a card to go along with it. hehe..

My self made card - Nice???? Got effort okay... :)
There was another proper birthday card but haven take video of it. Shall share when I have it!

Glad that I could see his smiling face. :)

The tart is actually made of oreo, and ex-colleagues commented that it taste nice too!
I tried the mini versions and I like it too!

Met him for dinner at The Clan Restaurant.
It is located 18 Bukit Pasoh Road.
Although named like a Chinese (clan ma)... but it doesn't serve Chinese food.

It's a 6 course dinner with Chef Starter first.
The centre scallop was really good. I like the foam on top. haha.

Cold dish - Alaskan crab. Taste good too.

Mine was Foie Gras ... I didn't like it. I ate like 2 mouthful and skipped it totally.

His Pork belly as side dish. He said the pork belly was really soft and taste good too...

My main couse - Pork ribs. Very soft and easily de-boned, love my choice!
But by the time we came to our main course, we were already full. haha...

And dessert time! Of course, with a candle for blowing out his start of 31st.

Personally, I preferred Dozo Restaurant which we went during his last year's birthday dinner to this.
I felt the food overall was better than Clan.
As for Clan, there was a few hits and misses, and I wouldn't go back again.
But for Dozo, I actually would go back if there was a special celebration. :)

Glad to spend your 31st with you, simple boy.
May your 31st be positive and shining. :):):)

His 31st: Bangkok Day 4 - LiT Bangkok + Chatuchak + Pla Thong Mookata

Day 4th was of course chatuchak since it's the weekend... and more eating haha...

I mentioned we switched hotels halfway, that's because I wanted to try out other hotels since I have more days here.

So, I chose LIT BANGKOK.
It is located near National Stadium BTS, 5min short walk only. What captured me into booking this was the super big bathtub. haha..
Yup, I prefer hotel rooms with big bathtab because I can just relax in hot water, maybe i'm missing hot springs too much. hahaa...
And of course, this hotel is sooo romantic with 3 different types of dim lights. *girly mood on* It has different types of rooms and I chose Extra Radiance.

This room is very big, and even has a side bed beside the windows.
Personally, I love this hotel more than Centara, but GGH doesn't like this cause it's too big for comfort. hahaha.. don't understand him.

1 room itself have 3 sanitary facility. haha. A bit too much.

Of course, they have very good facilities like gym, sauna, and swimming pool. Another must have in a hotel for me. Yes, I did bring my running shoes to gym.:D
Because this hotel is small, only has 79 rooms, chances are you can have the pools or gym by yourself, which is in the case for us! Awesome!

So cute! I bet someone will like this. haha...
And why this bear? because their naming convention is "pooh" -> pool and..
"jim" --> gym.

Their breakfast area, small and cozy..

You can order alacarte from the menu, where the chef cooks it for you fresh.
Love the bananas.. so nice!!!!

The eggs was quite good too!

View from outside.

I would recommend this hotel!!! :)

Okay, back to today's journey, Chatuchak. Nothing to snap pictures because it's all shopping!
Except for this... hehe...

Once shopping was done, we had to return back to town to collect his clothes.
We went for a swim and suntanning before heading for dinner.

And finally, after many times in BKK, I finally got to try Mookata in Thailand!
I tried searching for mookata in Bangkok but it seems like there's only one recommendation which is Pla Thong.
This is located conveniently near BTS Victory Monument.
Exit left, there's a shopping centre, walk straight, cross a small road, there's a famous western food in green signboard. It's just beside it.
There is not signboard that says Pla Thong, but the waitress shirt has Pla Thong at the back.

They have a station of cooked food, but it's worth the skip.

Desserts...

And super wide variety of food and meat! Note that there is no plague that tells u what sort of meat or marination, so have to try abit and guess.
It has really too much of variety of the marination to even try all.
Also, do remember to use the lard for the mookata. That's the Thai way of eating.

Happy boy eating away. We love the meat and fish was good too!
The buffet was very cheap but I forgot how much.
The total bill with 2 bottles of water came up to THB 373, which is like $15 for 2 person!!!!
How cheap can that be?!?!?!
Super worth it. Now, I think won't pay so much for mookata in Singapore. haha. At least for now...

After that we slowly made our way back to central to get movie tickets!
We decided to try the 4D movie!
And, before that, another round of Shibuya! hehe. Have to have one last round before heading back to Singapore. I'm missing it already.

We took the same toast but with mangos. Equally nice. :)

4D movie is an experience that we never have anywhere else.
The closest is the 4D Shrek in Sentosa.
But this 4D movie is in proper screenings and in English too so no worries about languages.
The seats were spacious, and really, your seat keeps moving with the motion effect of the movie.
We paid premium seats within the theatre, which is the centre seats facing directly the screen.
It cost about THB1,000 for 2, approximately $40, which I felt reasonable.
Their "gold class" is also slightly higher than this only, but you have like free flow of drinks and pop corn. Super worth it. I think I will try it next time.
Do try their movie theatres as they have really difference ranges of "theme", the most expensive if Bangkok Airways I think. IMAX was very popular when we were there. SOOO may people queuing..

ok, that's about my last full day in bkk. Overall, I was satisfied with my food hunts for this trip.
haha.. but not to shopping! Retail therapy still much needed!
Who's up for it?!
